Review: K9 Granola Factory Coconut Flakes

When I first adopted Maggie (My dog) she had, what the shelter called demodex, on the top of her head. After taking her to my own veterinarian, and multiple tests, it was diagnosed as a simple scrape...isn't that how it always works when you go to the vet? My vet recommended that we give her coconut oil in her food.

I was recently in a local dog boutique, Downtown Dog, and they happened to have Coconut Flakes, so I bought them without looking much into it.

Fast forward, I brought them home. The package said "Tasty Treats" so I didn't read much into it. Inside of the package is just plain ol' coconut flakes. Literally a bag full of white coconut flakes. Hardly a treat. I probably should have paid more attention to the packaging.

While messy, and kind of a pain, I have been adding a pinch of the flakes to both Maggie and the cats' food. It has helped. Her skin is looking much better. For the price of these flakes, I would have preferred an actual treat. I just looked at their website and it turns out that they actually make the treats, so I'm going to have to purchase some!

I don't know that I would buy these again. It would have been a third of the price to just go to Trader Joe's and buy some coconut. It's mostly my fault for reading the packaging wrong, but I am truly confused as to why someone would intentionally purchase these.

The product works. Maggie's skin is cleared up, don't get me wrong. I just would have preferred a more solid form of "treat", and felt that writing "Tasty Treats" on the packaging was misleading for people like me who are in a hurry and didn't read the entire package. (Aka...idiot proof) Try them for yourselves and let me know what you think!

They are available at www.K9GranolaFactory.com or at a dog store near you!
